Individual Therapy with Gabriela

I offer individual therapy for adults virtually via telehealth in English and Spanish.

My role is to serve as a supportive partner and guide, creating a space where you can connect with your own healing power and wisdom. Therapy is never one-size-fits-all with me. Instead, I tailor my approach to your unique strengths, history, situation, preferences, and self-defined goals.

I consider therapy a science and an art deeply rooted in millennia of healing traditions. By blending modern, evidence-based approaches with time-honored practices and creative innovation, I craft a personalized path that supports you in reaching your goals.

My role is to collaborate with you to create a relational environment where you can connect with your own healing power and truly come alive within your own life.

Already in talk therapy for trauma?

I offer supplemental trauma therapies that can enhance the effectiveness of what you’re already doing, such as Brainspotting and other somatic (body-based) approaches.

Have a tangible goal?

If you have a specific tangible goal that you’d like to make progress on in a shorter time-frame, I offer brief therapies that usually last from 6-24 sessions.

Have many goals?

If you have many therapy goals, more complex situations, evolving needs,  or want to include therapy as part of your overall wellness practice, I offer ongoing and longer-term therapy to support you through life’s seasons.

SEEKING SUPPORT WITH ALCOHOL OR OTHER SUBSTANCE USE?

If you or your loved one is seeking support around substance use that has become life-limiting, I approach substance use goals in an integrated fashion, treating it as part of your overall mental health and wellness goals.

Healing Arts + Therapy Traditions

I draw from many different therapy practices and traditions, integrating evidence-based practice with healing arts passed down through the generations.

Some of the more common approaches I use include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Brainspotting, somatic mind-body-spirit practices for trauma, and Judith Herman’s three-phase approach to trauma recovery, among many others.

what to expect

  • Before scheduling your first session, I offer a brief consultation at no cost. This gives us a chance to discuss your goals, explore how I can support you, and determine if working together feels right. If we move forward with starting therapy together, you’ll receive some standard intake paperwork to review and complete before our first session.

  • We will complete your intake and discuss a general therapy plan during your first one or two sessions. This plan will likely change as your needs and goals evolve, and our sessions will always remain flexible as you define your own goals and priorities.

  • The length of time we work together in therapy will be based on your needs, goals, and preferences. For those seeking a brief therapy experience with a very specific goal, we may work together for 3-6 months. For others who may be seeking to address multiple goals across different areas of life, we may work together for a year or longer. Therapy with me is voluntary, you can discontinue at any time.

  • If you ever feel stuck, unsure about your progress, or like therapy isn’t working as you’d hoped, I want to know. I welcome your input and can offer evidence-based tools to help us measure and support your progress toward your goals.

  • Once you’ve reached your goals, you might find that new ones have emerged, or you may decide it’s time to conclude our work together. You’re always welcome to reach out again if new challenges or goals arise in the future.
